Ladies News

Greetings Fellow Golfers,

The course has been open since April 20 and is in great shape! The weather has been very chilly and the north wind has certainly made the course play longer, especially as you head in number six. Our Ladies’ events will start up following the Opening Scramble on May 28, 2016. Our Executive met on May 5, 2016 to discuss the activities for the season. We would like to encourage all members to participate and enjoy the golf season at Hampton Golf Course.

News from the Ladies

It started in 1989 as a golf tournament, (National Club Team Championship, ) with a little bit of fund raising on the side. After a couple of years it evolved into a National Fund raising event “Golf for the Cure”, and the ladies division at the club have been on board from the very beginning. On several occasions, Hampton led the way nationally with the most money raised annually. In excess of $100,000 was donated to breast cancer research. In October 2013, the ladies decided to shift their focus to a local cause and St Joseph’s Hospital Foundation Breast Health Trust Fund has been the recipient of over $11,000 to date. This trust fund offers financial support to local women going through breast cancer treatments. It takes an incredible amount of work with fundraising events ranging from Newfoundland kitchen parties to book sales. There is never a lack of support from this incredible group of ladies. Their hard work and dedication has made all this possible. As well, thank you to the Hampton Golf Club and the senior men’s division for their support.
